Memory remains invisible until it inscribes itself into material form.
Wienandt is a multidisciplinary artist whose work transforms psychological experience into layered material environments through complex canvas constructions, mixed media, and installation.
About the Artist
Originally from Wisconsin and now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mel Wienandt received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Denison University. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions and includes multiple public art commissions across Ohio and Wisconsin.
Today, her practice continues to evolve through fragmented paintings and mixed media drawings that investigate how memory accumulates within material. By stretching, layering, carving, and reconstructing familiar objects, Wienandt explores the ways personal histories continue to shape the present.
